Its that time once again - and the IOG Football League is now open for registrations! Last year's participants have been auto-emailed invitations. For anyone new that wants to play here are the specifics:

Yahoo league
10 teams max
head-to-head format
LIVE draft set for Sunday August 31 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (USA)

Hopefully the draft date/time this year works for everyone. If there is a huge problem with the draft date/time for the majority of interested participants we can figure something better out.

Yeah none of us are really football experts we just do it for laughs.. but you want to check in and participate week to week because if you forget to come back and check, some of your players may be on a bye week and you will have to make substitutions - ditto for injuries, etc.

I would join the league but i will be in a plane en route or in San Juan, Puerto Rico at that day/time. If you guys were to do it a week earlier I would join. I do a competitive $ league with buddies so I'm not a pushover or gonna go afk after week 3.

this league isn't super hardcore competitive, mainly for fun you could just pre-rank your players and take your chances with the computer picking for you? :D

I just checked on that, and there is a way. Log into the league.. click the "MY TEAM" tab along the top red toolbar, then choose "Edit Team Settings" you should be able to change it there :tup:

The other thing is, if you don't pre-rank your players then Yahoo has some default rankings but those should just be a guide. They don't always make the best choices based on your need...

Those default pre-rankings are the murder/death/kill for your team. Hence why I haven't signed up yet and done my rankings b/c it's a pain in the arse!

I think you can sign up right before the draft, I can't find anything in the rules about a deadline although it does say that draft order is randomly chosen 30 min before the draft. And you can only pre-rank your players 45 min before the draft. I guess maybe an hour before the draft (5pm EST) is the cut-off to be safe? But i have no idea honestly lol

Right now the league is full because I didn't want an extra to join and uneven the teams (that's the only problem with head-to-head scoring).. if one more person expresses interest before the draft vwjimmy, i'll open two more slots...

Was Hoping to be available for the draft but as it is I'm going to be on the Paintball field at the time of the draft... This is why I was going to wait to the last moment to sign up. I don't pre-reg for anything even if it costs more.

The last thing I pre-regd for was a Classic Car Show and the night before the show my VW bug caught on fire less than a mile from my house :skull: . But it was put out before the car burned to the ground but I couldn't very well show it the next day :facepalm: On the bright side my mechanic had not pre-reged his car for the show so I just gave him my pre-reg so at least it wasn't wasted.

Weekdays are available as well but I know with work schedules and things that may not be doable, its why I was looking at weekends. Basically all drafts have to be done prior to Thursday Sept. 4 for week 1 scoring.

Well looks like the Sunday 5PM slot is full.. Yahoo seems to only have limited availability for certain dates and times and if they fill up that's it.

So.. right now the latest on Sunday the 31st is 3:45PM but that could change at any moment because weekend drafts seem the most popular.

*EDIT* I misunderstood the rules. I originally proposed a weekday draft sometime the first week in september but that won't work because in order to be eligible for week 1 scoring we have to draft by the sunday before the week that football starts (which means Aug 31).. NOW.. About the weekday draft.. that's still doable because well, Friday the 29th is a weekday and there's a 6PM slot open - this wouldn't interfere with weekend paintballing and may be a better option for those that want to join up at the last minute...

so what do you guys think of moving the draft EARLIER one day, Friday Aug 29th, 6PM EST?

Well, it was fun chatting with each other during the draft, and as last year, I look forward to seeing how the season pans out. We'll see if those that did the autodraft will be happy with thier selections made.

It maybe that next year we'll have to go back to a later time slot so more can be there for the draft. If it means me staying awake until 2,3 or 4am GMT time, then so be it. It's way too much fun to miss out on :D.

Yeah I know sometimes its hard to check in on it, so if you can only find a little time, it would probably be best to do it close to the end of the week so you can see if anyone is injured or out for the weekend or whatever. And those pesky bye weeks!

As always...I'm gracious in defeat. :facepalm:

I was close but obviously not close enough. Going into the Monday night game, vwjimmy'sBoys for leading 121 - 87. I had two players playing in the Monday nighter. I needed 35 points from a projected 26 points. It was just too much to ask of Forte and Gould. I only pulled in 23 points, and so lost 121 - 110 just 12 points away from a close call win.

I'd like to say a huge thanks to all who participated in this years fantasy league. With more playing this year, it made the live draft much more interesting (although there was a poor turn out for the actual live draft). I hope all those who participated this year will sign up again next year. Maybe we'll entice a few more to join in as well.

I certainly will be joining again, as I still pursue that ever elusive first place. Last year I came 3rd, this year 2nd, not bad for a "brit" who follows the great silver-n-black and "supposedly" knows sod all about football.

But it was a fun season regardless. I cannot believe I actually scraped out 3rd place, I thought IRS was going to wipe the floor with me, as he had been doing to everyone all year long...
