View Full Version : DIY Hose Hood Trigger Guard Mod

Well this is pretty self explanatory but I thought I would share with you all a little mod I did last week. I’d always been interested in picking up the “Jockstrap” from Assassin’s or Critical but never wanted to spend the $20 plus shipping. Being cheap I decided to do my own home grown “Hose Hood Mod” to prevent the hoses and eye wires from rubbing against the trigger.

I simply cut the end off of a used tube of caulking, cut out the nozzle leaving as much around the base as I could. I cut the nozzle length down to about ˝ inch then I then split the nozzle in half giving me two half circles to work with. I simply trimmed of excess material around the base until I achieved the fit that I wanted, leaving enough clearance inside the circumference of the nozzle so nothing touched the trigger. I then used some 2 part epoxy to glue the guard to the frame and viola, a no-cost hose-hood mod.

I’ve done this to both my Intimidators and it works great. No more mushy triggers!

I'd say that is extremely innovative, I mean such odd materials but brilliant results.

Here is a link to the one available from Critical.

Jockstrap (http://www.criticalpaintball.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GENERIC_JOCKSTRAP)

In my opinion I believe the DIY version leaves more clearance for the wires and hose above the guard so more room for them and less chance of the hose kinking.

I had actually thought about doing this for quite some time, I just hadn't found the right material or object to modify and use. I wanted something simple and common that anyone could find and use. A few years back I had done something similar using a plastic golf ball marker and gluing it to the left side (removable) grip panel but it meant having to line up the hoses and wiring every time the you put the panel back in place.

That piece looks kinda odd, I don't see how it'd fit.

Love the Hillbilly Engeneering Moist! Some times we can fix it right so we hillbilly engineer and sometimes the Hillbilly fix is better like this one :D

This needs to be everywhere intimidators are talked about! That actually looks better than the options on the market. It's something I'd pay for!

I have a jock strap fitted to my Alias, and hate how it kinks the hoses.

After seeing this little mod, I may ditch the jock strap and try this.

Thanks man for an innovative idea and solution to an age old problem with timmy's. Well done...

Hey Moist I'd like to see a pict of one not installed just to get a feel for how much was cut off and what not.

Next time I need to do some caulking I'll be sure to cut one up and take some more pictures :) (seriously)

Next time I have my frame fully apart I'll post up some better pictures to give everyone some clearer shots.
