Hey there guys. I'm in the market for a new laptop pc. I was looking for a gaming/personal use pc and was wondering if the Alienware pc's were really worth their money. Any other suggestions of laptops would help also.:D Thanx.

No, they're not. The Alienwares are severly overpriced. I run a Lenovo Thinkpad T500, and it is amazing, but I'd sugest a Thinkpad T400 as you can get a brighter screen and a graphics card for the same price I bought mine for with integrated graphics. HP/Dell are up there for Gaming as well.

Get an HP over a Dell if you run with hose, graphics are better with AMD, but battery life is shorter.

That's what 9-Cell batteries are for. ;)

performance: alienware > HP > dell > emachines
price: * > alienware
i can build a pc that rivals an alienware for under $1000. as far as laptops go, the alienware ones are nice, but i wouldnt get any of the over the top ones because even if you DID do serious gaming on it, it would overheat in no time.
but if i were to get an alienware, it would be this: [1] Area-51® m9750
Warranty: 1-Year AlienCare Onsite Service and 24/7 Toll-Free Phone Support
Operating System (Office software not included): Windows Vista® Home Premium with Service Pack 1
Notebook Tuners and Remotes: Without Media Center Remote Control or TV Tuner
Video/Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® Series - 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT - Enables DirectX® 10 Graphics!
Chassis: 17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD with Clearview Technology - Stealth Black
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 2.16GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 512MB
System Drive: Single Drive Configuration - 160GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
Optical Drives : 8x Dual Layer Burner (DVD±RW, CD-RW)
Wireless Network Card: Internal Intel® PRO Wireless 3945 a/b/g Mini-Card
Sound Card : Internal High-Definition Audio with Surround Sound
and just get 2 gigs of better RAM, because 667 RAM sucks
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!! overpriced , they are a cool toy but you can get a better one made for far cheaper !!!!!!!

half of an alienware is looks and labels. heres a rundown of my pc:
Biostar p43 motherboard - $70 (after $10 rebate)
3.0Ghz Core 2 Duo CPU OC'd to 3.23 - $180
Zotac NVidia 8800GTS - $120 (after $20 rebate)
2GB OCZ 1066 Reaper HPC RAM - $40 (after $40 rebate)
Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU w/green UV light/cables- $40
Hitachi 160GB HDD - $54
case and dvd-rw i had left over from my old PC. granted, i'm not running SLi or SATA 3.0, but it gets the job done. i can play Oblivion, Need For Speed Carbon, Battlefield 2142, and Unreal Tournament 3 at max graphics without lag.

Ok, I'm now pretty sure I'm not getting an alienware. I'm looking into the Toshiba Qosimo with dual nvidia geforce 9800M sli graphics cards 4GB DDR3 ram and 320GB Hard disc drive Pentium core duo 2 @2.26 GHz For $2000. Does this sound like a good set-up?

No, it does not, nor do I care for those things. Merely pointing out that he can get a much faster processor than that.

Just going by the Stats give on Toshiba direct. Does that extra .3 GHz really make that much of a difference? I would personally like GHz in the 3 range, but this has a much better price than a custom rig. I'm not tech savvy enough to build a laptop from the ground up.:( I just want to use my laptop for more than three seconds before I have to look for a new one to play the games I want.:D
