Christmas Present Help

OK, so... I have been asked to find a present for myself for under $500 that I would use on a cruise to Mexico. Already looked at camera lenses and found one I wanted, and the GF agreed to until today, that I would actually be able to use and enjoy on the cruise. The new idea MUST be something I can use and would enjoy on the cruise. I already have a laptop, headphones, external hard drive, 12gb of SD cards, decent camera set-up (Canon EOS Rebel XSi, 18-55mm IS F/3.5-5.6, 55-250mm IS F/4-5.6, and 50mm F/1.8), tripod (Bogen Manfrotto, I love it), bag for the camera and stuff, clothes, and money set aside for bar-hopping in Mexico (where I'm perfectly legal to drink :D). The lens I had picked out was a Sigma APO 70-200mm EX DG HSM F/2.8, and would have been perfect for the cruise... the only other camera stuff I can even see me wanting/using (not on the cruise, though) are a Tamron AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) lens, a 2x Teleconverter (brand's up in the air between Sigma and Canon at this point), and a Canon Speedlight 430EX II. The problem with those two is that they're not quite far enough reaching for what I want on a cruise to Mexico.

Any ideas? Right now I can't find anything else I'd need for this trip that I WANT and would USE. Because it must be used on the cruise, this means no paintball items, as much as I know exactly what I want on that aspect.

Let's see a cruise to mexico eh? I would suggest that you save more money than you already have for the bars in mexico... And save some money for "El Burro" If you don't know what it is, just follow the locals to where ever the show is!!!

Lol... El Burro... I speak a bunch of Spanish, so I know exactly what that is! As for money, I've got plenty. Her grandparents are going along and she's telling me her grandfather's going to foot the tab. Her family is full of... ah... people that like to drink. I'll be in good company. :D

The problem is, I MUST pick out a present. The GF feels horrible since she said she'd get the lens I wanted, and now she's taking it back, and needs something to make her feel better. It's not like I can just ask for a pair of sunglasses, as I have to wear prescription glasses. :(

Bottom line, somthing to make sure you dont have "Mexican ****" My dad used to work in Mexico, and hed come home and stink out the house for a week.

wow dude, it sounds like you're set...maybe have her prebook a couple of the pricier excursions, or cash for alcohol on the boat (trust me it is easy to drink your way to $500), and one more thing, in cozumel, on the way back to the boat from our excursion, i saw a paintball place...it looked kind of $h:+y, but that could be a loop hole for you to get your girlfriend to spend that christmas money on something pb related...just a thought:tup:

We're only going on a 5-day Cruise, booked and payed for by her grandparents (they aren't poor), so pretty much all of that is covered. All of the excursions are ****ty as ****, and I'm not interested in ANY of them. We're stopping by Cabo San Lucas (Cabo Wabo, here we come! :D) and Ensenada. I've already been down to Ensenada already, so it's nothing new to me... same ****in' dirty, smelly, POS Mexico.
