Mystical: you smoke a lot don't you....
Anyway for me it depends on what I'm doing:
At work/home/car it's all about the chill jam bands; dispatch, dead, OAR, galactic, phish, widespread panic, moe, etc...
On the way to play paintball its harder music like unwritten law, system of a down, avenge sevenfold, etc.
I'm with ya mystical......:dodgy:

With almost 100% certianty nobody else on this forum listens to my favorite artists and chances are you've never even HEARD of most of them.

. - Mississippi Squirrel Revival
. - Ahab the Arab
. - Gitarzan
. - The Streak
- Weird "Al" Yankovic (Parody Artist Supreme! His Orginal stuff is good too)
- Cledus T. Judd (Country Parody Artist)
- Bob Rivers (Another Parody Artist) Get's a little "dirty" for my tastes sometimes
- Stand-Up Comedy
. - Jeff Foxworthy
. - Bill Engvall
. - Jeff Dunham (Again borderline "dirty" for my taste)
. - Bill Cosby
- Urban Christian (Most from my Youth Late 80s early 90s)

Rock/Metal
let me try to narrow this down (with examples)
rock - rise against (had to put them first!) the cult, ac/dc, gnr, motley crue, the doors, etc..
metal - children of bodom, danzig, metallica, all the great 70s and 80s stuff, as i lay dying, all that remains, still remains... not a big fan of the mainstream "metal"
screamo - taking back sunday (not AS screamo as the rest, but...), atreyu, hawthorne heights, funeral for a friend, senses fail
punk - misfits, afi, the clash, anti-flag, bouncing souls, me first and the gimme gimmes, mxpx, nofx, new found glory, old blink 182, against me!
ska - catch 22/streetlight manifesto/bandits of the acoustic revolution, mighty mighty bosstones, i voted for kodos, less than jake
rap - fort minor, jay z & linkin park
country - johnny cash, toby keith, garth brooks, alan jackson
misc - boxcar racer, transplants
im sure theres loads more i could add...
top 3 would be Rise Against, Streetlight, and Fort Minor. TBS would be close too, cant believe i forgot them.

When I bought my current car (a Hyundai Elantra) the very first thing I did was to take it to an audio place an have them install a top of the line Alpine stereo, Alpine 6 disk changer (both of which will recognize and play MP3s), and the best Rockford Fosgate they made. Putting almost $2000 worth of audio equipment into a $10000 car may seem idiotic, but it's been totally worth it. When I replace this car in a couple of years, I'll do the exact same thing (although the stereo will have a USB input and I'll drop the CD changer. I have about 200 gig of MP3s now after all.)
My music tastes are eclectic, I listen to everything from opera to NIN. Most of what I've been listening to recently has been NIN, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Garbage, Finger 11, Rip Slyme and Weezer.

I love Rise Against. They are the perfect workout music. Just if my headphones (earbuds) would stop falling out of my ear while I am running. In fact they are the only music I have on my MP3 player (crappy MP3 player that only holds like 30 songs, so I use it for the gym). I have to grab my headphones from home... Those work better.

honestly, i have listened to nothing but rise against for a week straight. set it to shuffle repeat on my pc and mp3 player in the car. every song is a work of art. when i was growing up, LP was my favorite band (of course, we were all like that back in the day), but they pale in comparison to Rise Against.
