View Full Version : My new Gz fixing it up ...

I just acquired a GZ and am trying to get this bad boy tunned up.... I slapped a HPR torpedo on it and gassed it up...
lots of hissing from the ram tube but the solenoid cycles and I think it is coming from the poppit area.
I am about to break this guy down and inspect it after work tonight.
My question is how much different are the o-rings from an 06' Alias and this gun here I want to figure out the leaks and fix them but IF the o-rings are different I might need to wait a week to tune this guy... here is a picture....

they should be mostly the same orings.

nice gz i see it doesnt have that god awful 45 frame.

yeah I was not to fond of the 45 frames my self, I picked up my alias then this gun and I can feel a pretty big difference... lol I wonder the weight differences, I would weigh them on some digitals at the post office but I think that would look funny...

Isn't this a "Z" the "GZ" has the straight 45 frame this has the clamshell. Either way I have 4 GZ's between my son and I. They all shoot great. Good luck with the leak..

yeah man i love my gz. i swapped the 45 frame for a clammy and it was like light and dark. i think the o-rings are mostly the same. doesnt PBK still sell 2k2 rebuild kits with all the o-rings and stuff?

Anyway I'm headed to Cup on Saturday, think I will just have Blast tune this bad boy up for me, that way I kill 2 birds with one stone, and do not have to wait to get the o-rings shipped. Yeah this guy 's weight is a noticeable difference from my 06' Alias it was the first thing I could see when picking this Gat up....

so its lighter than the alias? i think that is a "Z" because the gz has that spacer decorative block thing.

I just check the weight on my gun (GZ) and barrel without the rail and asa, it was 2lbs 11oz....

guys I am not sure on the Species or the 2k2 but I know my 06 Alias is almost if not three fourths of a LB lighter.
I will tell you this I just teched the gun myself today after getting it and just dry firing it I Swapped out a few O-rings, ( Thanks to a 2k2 O-ring kit Thanks again Crankwalk free ups!) and had it shooting darts in under 20 minuets.
I re lubed everything and swapped out the HPR's Piston to a Violent products one, a new engram ram, and spring combo, it still has the Katana techna trigger and slapped on those sick arse mirrored Dark Soul grips.... and here she is now.....

next upgrades to finish her off for now is a new ASA( hate the look of the rail and ASA on this gun) and Killer Products Detents those things rock, cant say enough.... I was going to throw on an adjustable ram cap but the bolt sits fine and I was very surprised it did not need any adjustments...
I would love to 2K5 this bad boy but don't have the cash to finish it off, because I'm buying a vice in a week, and don't know if anyone has a black to grey fade( 2k5) grip frame for sale....
But so far what you guys think?

Also this bad boy shoots at a way lower pressure, and is WAY quieter then my Alias.... I was surprised....

Change the ASA like you said you were going too, and that is about it IMO. Let us know when you get more parts.

Ok took both my guns to work and used the Digi scale from chef..... this is what it said, the Alias weighed in at .... 2lb and just under 6 oz's

and the Gz weighed in at ...... 2lb and just over 12 ounces

This affords about 6 ounces difference and is still quite noticeable when I pick them up !! hope this answered everyones questions, I do not have a 2K2 or such or I would tell ya what it weighed guys....

Nice. I weighed by 2k2 Intimidator with an older scale and it weighed in at about 2lb and 10oz, that is with all of the upgrades (In the link in my sig) and the barrel on it.
