Ok I've been out of the game since about 2004 or so...And even though I've got old & fat I have started to miss playing alot lately so today I bought a Warped Sportz Dark Timmy over on the Nation.
Back in the day I normaly ran Tadao boards in my timmy's but since I've been out of the loop so long I need some advice. What's some of the hot boards out now days that will work in an Alias based Timmy? The Dark I bought still had the stock "everything was stock" board in it "Frenzy wasnt it?", that'll be fine for now but like everything else sooner or later I'll want to upgrade it..So lemme hear some opinions on what I need to be looking for. I want something with all the different fire modes on it, ramping and all that good stuff plus something that's PSP legal.

Anything Tadao is the BEST board on the market in its class. You can pick from the LED programming (Infamous, M6 is the newest coding but you can buy used ones with M3 and M5 and have them flashed by Tadao for M6) and OLED programming (Yakuza). Yakuza is newest and IMO the best out there, but it's a pricey little board. If you can stand LED's, get the Tadao Infamous. If you have a spare chunk of change, get a Yakuza. You can't go wrong either way.
A bad choice would be Virtue. Half-assed manufacturing plus half-assed warranty service is NOT a good combination.

Yeah I'd like to stay with Tadao I think....I had their boards in alot of timmies and matrices back in the day and they all worked awesome. I had heard a little something about the Yakuza board but I dont need the most expensive thing out there, heck I probably wont ever play another tournament in my life...Just as long as I can get the normal modes out of it I'll be happy.

Then get a nice Tadao Infamous used from either the sales section here, or on PBN. They run anywhere between $35 (broken) and $80 (right out of the box, used once, and listed for sale).

How good is the Ryujin board? I play semi only and a lot of the local fields are going 10 bps semi even for rec play. Or is the Frenzy 3 good enough?
Thanks,
Jim

Hrm, I honestly have never used one, but I know for a fact that the Frenzy3 board has severe issues with keeping the BPS to a set limit. I haven't heard of that issue with the Ryujin board, though.

The infamous is a great board, as is Yakuza. For me, having the OLED screen is very nice.

In terms of coding you won't notice much difference between the Yakuza's and Musashi's in the Gen3's. The real perk that I like is that the Yakuza boards eliminate the need for a membrane pad. The OLED is crisp and clean to read and makes setting the board a breeze. But if price is a consideration, then find a used M6.

Yeah a used M6 is the route I'll go if I can find one at a good price...I dont really wanna pay as much for a board as I did for the gun, lol.

I'm actually going back to running frenzy boards back in my timmys. Tadaos always seem to suck batteries for some reason and I get really good battery life with the frenzy boards. Not to mention the Empire 1.5 and the new Bob Long 1.7 codes are nothing short of amazing. And at $125 for a brand new board or like $40 for a board flash, you really can't go wrong and save a small fortune.
And you get the whole LCD function still which is another added bonus.

Tabris17, what all features do you get with the new flash updates on the frenzy boards? The Dark I bought still has the stock frenzy in it, if you can get all the PSP modes and crap like that I might just get it flashed sometime insted of buying something else.
