View Full Version : Gen4 NecroRam testing. (Testers only please.)
I would like this thread to be for the sole purpose of gen4 testers communicating results to Chris (necrolyte) and working out any bugs in the system.
First bug in the newest system:
The necro spring isn't strong enough. Anything above 20PSI (LPR) causes the valve to stay open.
Possible resolutions:
Stronger spring.
Run your gun at 20PSI.
EDIT:
Dropped the stock spring in and it's working fine @ 40PSI. I'll be chrono'ing it tomorrow to see how things go.

I am waiting on a new spring as well before I continue. Also to fix my Infamous hahaha.

Awesome, all that time spent on new springs, and they are junk. Yay for me.
I hate to hear that, but I'm glad the stock spring is working so far.

My gun makes a really weird popping sound with the necroram and won't fire. I need to really break it down and work on it when I get back home this weekend.
Chris, is this the same spring that I have or was it a new spring?

NecroRam works!!! Just need to chrono and make a vid for it.

What spring are you using?
How does it compare to the Eigenram?

Right now there is an Eigenspring in there.
I believe the kick from transitioning to the NecroRam has been halved, also my LPR pressure can be lower.

For those of you using the Eigenram setup, I'm not sure what tuning you're using, as I changed the recommendations a couple of times as the setups were refined. I generally run the dwell a bit higher, in the 8 to 10 range, and the LPR at 55 or below (locals have run in game situations as low as 35psi, but I don't really trust the BL LPR at that pressure). The middle poppet oring should be swapped to a 009, and the bolt rings function best with 014s (the machinist for Gen4s is different, and as anyone without gloves and an infamous will tell you, there are more sharp edges, especially on first run gen4 guns).
I expect that a necroram would have similar settings - the eigen is significantly lighter than the gen3 eigen and when tuned correctly just about the entirety of the kick comes from the ball being fired (this is easily confirmed by anyone with a well tuned timmy with a lightened ram - the addition of the ball is a huge difference).

Thanks lurker for some settings to start off with!
My Gen4 should be in today I hope so I can jump in with testing myself. Its much easier to do testing and tuning in house!

I took out my Gen 4 again today and still can't get it to run. I have the old original spring and can't get it to fire. I need to play with an eginspring a little I guess!

Cody, I need to get you the new spring to try out. I'll send one with the trigga :)

Right on... are the new springs working better with the ram?

Not sure, just got my Gen4 in a few minutes ago, finished unboxing it :)
GOD said they are too light, so there may be a redesign for the spring....again! :(

They need some sort of a change.
I don't like my valve opening when my bolt is back...
When I get some more air I'll get some numbers in with the stock spring. (Won't be testing for efficiency since I'm not exactly equipped for that.)
BTW:
BIG thanks to Lurker, it always helps to have a place to start.

If your valve is opening with the bolt back, your LPR is overcoming the spring pressure. The Eigenspring for Gen4s releases in the neighborhood of 70psi.

I got it running just fine, consistency was the issue, +/-15.
