View Full Version : Who cuts out their LCD grip windows?

I keep seeing LCD grips with their windows cut out. I can guess that they get hard to see through, but I would rather leave the window in and protect my board.
Do a lot of people do this? Maybe they never get hit in the hand.

If I had a LCD gun I would leave it in for the same reason you do, I have been shot in the hands a couple of times and I wouldn't want to risk my board just so I can see the colors better, if I need to do that I would just take the grips off for a minute. Just my opinion though.
I've never seen any one do that, all I have seen is people who cut their own LCD window so they can see it, never removing the existing one.

I cut out LCD window to see it. There is a plastic window attached to the frame that protects the LCD screen

Assuming you mean the big rubbery chunk in the actual grips that kinda magnifies the screen, I cut that one out. It got really cloudy and useless, and like Trail said there is a little plastic on the actual clamshell to help protect the board. Lots of people just go gripless altogether, so it can't be that risky.

the only drawback i see to cutting the dense murkey rubber window is if you take a direct hit to the spot where it was, then the plastic cover that is part of the clamshell wont protect the lcd screen.....but other than that it sounds like a pretty good idea to me because it really is hard to see through the window

I run both of my timmies w/o the plastic piece and grips. On one of my guns its because the grip screws mess with the battery, and on the other it just feels weird because it makes the frame feel SUPER thick.

Yeah frame feels pretty thick with grips on it, though it feels kinda weird to go gripless since I don't wear gloves and the frame starts to like slip out of my hand.
Kinda related, but I wanted to cut a hole on the clamshell cover so you can see the full LCD screen, since it's much bigger and cooler than you see it through the window. Useless, yeah, but I haven't seen anyone do that.

I only have LED boards. So the LED is super bright w/o grips and the window.
