So, I am interested in buying an empire revolver kit for use on my alias. Being the cheap person that I am, I am wondering if I can get a spyder threaded kit (because they are so much cheaper than cocker threaded ones) and just use a spyder/autocker adapter. I was wondering if anyone knows how this would affect the performance of the kit. Let me know. Thanks.

timmy_lover- I have heard that the thread adapter for all barrels messes up there accuracy and gives you more chops, but that is only what I heard, not from personal experience.

i have a cocker to a-5 adapter on my girlfriends a-5 and i cant see any difference in the performance but it does add about 1-1/2" to the length of the barrel......are the spyder threaded kits really cheaper than cocker threaded ones? Even if this is true i would still get a cocker threaded kit because of the xtra length a barrel adapter adds to your setup...just my opinion

Yes the spyder threaded ones can be found new on ebay for 50 bucks, while the cocker threaded ones are around 100-150. I know thats a little steep, but thats what they are going for new. If i could get away with using an adapter, without hurting the performance than i deffinately am going to. I just want to know if it would make it chop etc.

timmy_lover- sorry for giving you false information then, I was just going by what I heard, but apparently it isn't true. If you wanted to have your barrel be about the same as if you didn't have the adapter then just get a tip that is 2inches shorter and it will be the same.

Oops sorry IRStookmySpyder didnt mean for you to take it that way. I'm just wondering if i can use an adapter without it decreasing accuracy. If anyone knows of someone who has done this, or has any ideas how well it would work let me know.

timmy_lover- I wasn't taking it like you were being rude or anything. But IMO I don't see how it would cause any more breaks, because wouldn't it be the same as a 2 or 3 piece barrel? I mean it is just like a little extension, the only thing that might mess it up is if the bore size is different. But that is just my thinking, I could be wrong, could be right.

Here’s my take on the deal… If you use an adapter in conjunction with a kit then, in my opinion you’re defeating the purpose of the various sizes of backs. Unless you use an adapter that matches the size of your back you’ll probably have an adapter that has a bigger bore than the back that is slightly smaller then back to a big bore for the tip. Sounds like a weird way for the paint to travel to me. I’m no expert on this and have never used an adapter because of my somewhat weird way of thinking. If it were me I’d avoid the adapter and get one good barrel.

if you want that kit, get a powerlyte scepter kit.....same thing just without the empire logo. The whole kit with 7 backs instead of 5 for 115 or smth like that. Also you can pick your tip color. Just a lil info. Plus to everyone, if you already have a revolover kit, all the scpeter parts are interchagable with the revolvers, backs, tips, and inserts!

Thanks for pointing me to that site megatron, they have some great deals on stuff. They don't currently have the whole pipe kit, just the bases and they don't have it with cocker threads. they do however have an awesome deal on a dye ultralite kit. The kit comes with one back and three fronts of your choice for 98 bucks. That is a great deal. Three different ultralite combos for 33 bucks a piece. Cant beat that. This is the answer to all of my problems. I am deffinately cashing in on this deal. Thanks for all of the input everyone!

timmy_lover- Just so you know that back is what determines the bore size, so you just have 3 different length tips to choose from. And it is good that you found it, I think it is funny if you just buy a back with one tip in cocker threads then it cost the same price as the 3 tips. Have fun with it though.

Glad i could help timmy lover....while we're on the subject of barrels, in my opinion, when it comes to accuracy, you cant beat a good 1 piece barrel and for christmass my girlfriend is getting me a lapco bigshot...i had one a few years back and i found it to be the most accurate barrel i've ever shot, i love my girlfriend:D

Megatron- My girlfriend was going to get me a clamping feedneck and a trigger for my 2k2, but I decided to trade for something a little newer (05 Angel Speed) but hopefully I am going to get that and be able to sell it for more then I was asking for the 2k2 and then be able to get a newer Intimidator.

cool, i like the grips on the 05 speed (naked angel lady), what color, & is it the 90 degree frame?

Megatron- Ya, I like those grips, but the guy switched the grips out with some other style grips so I'm not sure if I will get those or not. It is blue and black, but I am not sure what the 90* trigger frame looks like, so here are two pictures of the gun http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u113/shane2390/HPIM6216-1.jpg

Megtron- Oh, I can't even see anything on my computer, they just look black, lol. And thanks for letting me know that it is a 90* frame. I haven't got it yet, it is on the way. It needs new eyes though, but it is fine with me, my 2k2 Intimidator needed some parts too.

IRStookmySpyder, I did realize that this deal wasnt really a kit. but i figure that i can keep the length tip that I want, sell the other 2 which would be brand new still and in the end I would only have paid like 30 for an ultralite.

IRStookmySpyder

timmy_lover- I figured that you would do that since you could probably get $30 for each tip so that that would be like you only spending $30-40 on the Ultra-lite.

you're wanting a barrel kit to change bores, correct? if so then what is the point of that UL kit, all you will be able to do is change length of the barrel.

but quite honestly, i wouldnt even buy a kit, get something with a .692-.693 bore and it will work wonders for you, i suggest a CP 2 piece or a deadly wind fibur

Well from what I've heard ultralites are kic but barrels even if they dont match uo to the paint you are using tightely. Quite a lot of people just use an ultralite most of the time for whatever paint, unless it is horribly mismatched, and most of them say that its still pretty accurate. If this is true then I probably dont need a kit. Then again I can get a 7 piece powelyte kit for 100. Aaaahhhh! Too many options!!!

(about to turn into "Best Barrel" thread) Get a lapco bigshot, it's a one piece
.689 bore.....best barrel i ever had, can handle a variety of paint, and you dont see them on the end of every kid's marker...it's a solid buy:tup::tup:

timmy_lover- My friends Ultralite seemed to work pretty good on his Ion unless he had either old paint or the bore match was far off. I have a Bob Long Assassins barrel on my 2k2 Intimidator (Same as a CP 1 piece barrel) and unless the CP 2 piece is better then I wouldn't buy a CP barrel. If you chop any paint it just stays all in there and then it gets really inaccurate but even when there isn't a break it still isn't as good as a UL (Ultralite) IMO.
