Considering swapping out the board on my '05 Empire. Have used a Virtue & more recently Tadao M7 on my Ego, and really like the Tadao for it's ease of programming via trigger pulls and options. Would prefer to run an LED board so I can loose the window in the grip panel for the LCD display.

My question is

1. what LED style boards are an easy swap, and give best performance?

2. Has any one using aftermarket timmy boards got any tips?

3. Has anyone got a good board for sale - or knows where to source one?

Any Alias style board will be an easy swap, you just remove two screws (upper tiny phillips head one through the microswitch, and lower screw), and disconnect the eyes, battery harness, and membrane pad - and reinstall.

You can't go wrong with a Tadao board, and you will find that it will probably be cheaper than a Virtue board as well. Check B/S/T for boards

I have a Tadao M6 Infamous in my Empire II intimidator and it's a great board to use. Like you said, adjusting modes/settings using the trigger pulls is great.

I have a Lucky Un1 Intimidator alias board I could be tempted to part with. It utilizes DM4/5 micro-chips to provide fire modes/settings. It's similar in operation to the Tadao board in that you use trigger pulls to make adjustments. I have it fitted with a Lucky Ace Chip, that has all the fire modes you need. But for us Brits the only one that really matters is millenium ramping.

I'd throw in a set of Hybrid urban camo LED grips as well, if you were interested?

Cheers guys - great info

Dean,

I'll drop you a PM and see if we can work out a deal.

What's your opinion of the Lucky board -much better than a standard 127.4 frenzy?

Shoot me a PM, and I'll see if we can sort out a deal.

The Lucky board, is IMO better than a stock Frenzy 127.4 board. It has better settings adjustment, as well as europe specific ramping.

With the 127.4 you get 4 fire modes, (semi, full auto, 3-short burst and ramping). Now with ramping, it works I think on the PSP rules of after the 3rd trigger pull it'll ramp to the capped rate of 15bps (or if you have it un-capped, the max feed of your hopper).

Now, with millenium ramping the ramp doesn't start until after the 8th shot. So you can see that if you attend a millenium event, or any tournament that allows millenium ramping, straight away you're going to attract the attention of the judge's as you are ramping (with a 127.4) way too quickly.

The Lucky board fitted with the Lucky Ace chip is pre-programmed with millenium ramping, as well as all the other fire modes detailed above and a few more as well. All you do is sellect the mode, place it into tournament lock and away you go. If you want to fine tune the stock fire mode, say to adjust your dwell, you can go through the menu sequence and change it.

The other two top branded boards on the market, Virtue and Tadao, offer the same fire modes as well as greater adjustment of settings. Lucky made a board that used removable micro chips that allowed the user to swap and change chips so that they could "experiment" with other users chips and settings. With Virtue and Tadao the chips are wired into the circuit boards so any trials with alternate set points ment changing the settings everytime.

Check out this link and click on down load pdf attachment of Lucky Ace users manual.

Here's some photos of my board and hybrid grips.

Ignore the chips shown in the photo's as they came with the gun originally. The previous owner didn't have the manuals for them, or even the name of the company that supplied them So I was unable to make adjustments. So i binned them and bought a brand new Ace chip, VNICE.

kila and vaporworks makes boards that are decently cheap and nice
kila also offers the 4 eyes with their alias boards

the vaporworks board is around $60 and has 10 firing modes, i had one of these in an old freestyle, it wasnt bad at all, the code i hadback then was not as new or as advanced as this one is

but other than that, i would go with a virtue board, by far my favorite programing i have used

Thanks for the tip off

I've done a deal with Dean for the Lucky board, but know someone that may be interested in the Vapourworks one for his Alias.

Too early to say... I need some mug to shoot at ;)

Ha ha, Gee Tee. You're becoming something of an upgrade whore:rolleyes:! I have an eigenram in my Empire II, but with no real test data to give you (referring to another thread).

If you like the pretty colors, you may want to try and keep an eye out for a Lucky spitfire chip in various forum BST threads/classifieds. I tried to source one but couldn't :(.

It has MORE fire modes including highly illegal breakout modes. More modes mean more bright LED colors.

On another note, that GAT is looking sweet. What's next on the upgrades list after the eigenram, kila detents maybe:confused:?

Swapped the CP trigger for a Critical roller bearing one last night

WOW!

That magnet instead of spring makes a big difference - very happy

Critical triggers are the best IMO, sure the techna's are lighter but is it worht the price? Not in my opinion.
