Hi all. I'm new to this forum as well as to intimidators. I will be acquiring an Infamous intimidator from a trade shortly, and I had a few questions about them. Here is the one that will soon be mine.
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3279/20665860275d443ae654uh7.jpg

It has a CP regulator and barrel, a Hybrid feedneck, and a Smartparts On/Off. I am not sure what type of trigger that is, or if it is just the stock trigger. Also, from reading the stickies, I think that the only upgrades I really NEED are detents, but if there's anything else I need please let me know. Also, I know that the gun feels great to hold, but I've never shot one. How is it in comparison to a fusion?(what I'm moving from).

TL;DR:
1.Any upgrades other than detents needed?
2.What type of trigger is that?
3.How does it shoot compared to a fusion?(I know the two have been compared).

Thank you for the help.

-Dave

Aren't critical triggers supposed to be really nice? What makes them nicer than other triggers? Also, what kind of boards do the Gen 4 intimidators take?

i think the critical triggers have a magnetic return which results in a very "snappy" feel, also build quality.....as for the board, i believe there are a variety of choices, but i personally wouldnt change it, unless there was something wrong with the stock one

Yes the Criticals are one of the nicer triggers due to the shape, the dual roller bearings inside for quick return, and of course the magnets. Any Alias style board will work in the Gen 4.

Thanks for the help everyone. So the detents definitely, and maybe the ram. I hope I enjoy it.

Alternatively, if you're on a budget and want to hold off purchasing the kila detents, you could buy the harder BLUE detents from paintballkingdom. They will fit in the stock eye covers just like normal detents. They hold up better against the faster force fed loaders now used by everyone.

However, if money is no object, then buy the kilas as the beauty of these suckas is the fact that they don't wear down as fast as rubber detents.

The eigenram is a must, as it'll reduce kick. I have one fitted in my Empire II. But due to lack of playing time (new baby daughter takes up all my free time these days) I really haven't taken it for a real good thrashing.

As for replacement boards, well wait and see how the stock board feels for you. If you really feel the need to change your board for an upgraded version, then there a several on the market.

There's the Tadao M6 infamous board, the Virtue Alias board, the Kila-vibe board that has the ability to use 4 eye's (similar to the marq series of markers) and in the spring Tadao will hopefully (god how I'm praying) be releasing the Yakuza OLED board for the Alias.

So you're spoilt for choice really.

Anyway, enjoy your new aquisition and welcome to the gang.

I think I'll just stick with the stock board. It's not like I switch it out of semi anyway. I'll get the eigenram. The kila detents sound better, as it sounds like I won't have to replace them. The Alias style ones are the one to get?

Yep. Alias style intimidator eye covers.

How's the little one doing? :)

After seeing one or two of the OLED's in Terry's gun at Cup, it's worth waiting for. I'll be getting one or two when they're released.

Hi Lopez17,

Not that I wish to seem like I'm thread jacking, but she's fine thanks. Sleep deprivation is a killer though. No one ever tells you about this at the classes you attend before the birth. It's all about child care, feeding, bathing, etc... Not a bloody word about the fact that after two weeks, you'll look like an extra from a zombe movie. She attends day nursery while me and the little lady go to work. The place is a breading ground for child (then passed to adult) illnesses. But besides all that she's the most gorgeous thing in the world.

I can't wait for the new year as I'm going to taut my self for a team to join. I've been away from the fields for toooooooooooooo long, and I'm dieing to drill some fools.

I was thrilled when Will Roberson confirmed that he will be releasing the Yakuza OLED board for the Alias Intimidator. I know that LCD/OLED display screen boards aren't everyones thing, but man do I want one. Just sold my Lucky Un1 board to Gee Tee so I can free up the space in my 2k4 Alias for the new board. Will better not let me down...

MisterBojangles- I'm not going to waste yours or my time rewriting what everyone else said, I think you get the point now. Well I just wanted to say welcome to the forums, and the gun you are getting looks pretty nice. I hope that you enjoy it.

KeenDean- Lol about the nursery. My mom works at an elementary school and it is the same thing there, all of the kids get it then send it to her who sends it to the rest of my family and it keeps going. Well I wish your family the best of luck in the future.

I couldn't agree more with you on the germ magnet part. My 2 year old niece has gotten me sick twice this year... Glad to hear your little one is doing so well...and that you're getting time to get out and play some ball too!

I'm pumped for the Yakuza boards. I was impressed with what I saw at Cup and hopefully have a nice home for one in my vice.

With these minor upgrades, the ram, the detents, and maaaaybe the Yakuza board later on, there's absolutely no reason why this gun won't keep up with everything out there, right?(trying to talk myself out of buying a Protege. It's difficult).

absolutely right Mr.Bojangles, your timmy will keep up with the fastest out there, and look better than most while doing it....i've read that the orings in the gen 4 timmys (infamous & empire 2) require an application of dow 55 after every outing....crankwalk has some for sale, check it out on the b/s/t section of this forum

Okay. I have received the intimidator and I have a question. (Bear in mind I'm new to timmies). Looking at the manual pdf, it states that after changing the eye mode to 'force' which is indicated by an 'f' on the lower line of the LCD screen, by rights, the marker should not fire unless there is a ball in the breech. However, upon setting the eyes to 'force' the solenoid still clicks. Are my eyes malfunctioning, or did I do something wrong?

EDIT: It has the 'eye sensor malfunction' asterisk on the screen. What do I do?

crankwalk

make sure the bolt is pulled all the way back and not blocking the eyes, so there is nothing in the breech (assuming you're not firing paint, and just clicking away without a hopper or air). the solenoid clicking and the malfunction asterisk are all signs pointing to something blocking the eyes that isn't moving.

Right. Called blast yesterday, they diagnosed the problems, and I have a new set of eyes on their way at the expense of the previous owner.
