I just recently got the idea to make my own 2k2 body for fun and see how it turns out. I was wondering if anyone has the demensions to the intimidator body, as in where to drill eye holes, frontblock and ram sleeve set screws. I can get all of that with the body that i already have but its a little difficult to get exact messurements on a non flat surface. So again just wondering if anyone has something that would help me out, If not its not a big deal.

Thanks

Are you using a ruler? Cause if you were using a set of calipers or micrometers you would not have a problem measuring. Now unless you have the right tools to measure, I suggest you put the idea on hold until you get them.

Here are some pics I just took...... if they look like crap its cause I just woke up.

I have all of those tools necessary for doing it as well as a few different milling machines one which is a cnc machine so it shouldnt be a problem doing it just figured id ask to see if someone already had them before i sat down and took my gun apart and got them all myself

cool idea. I'd like to see this as you progress through.

Good luck.

I always wanted to know what a completley custom milled body would look like... I always wanted to do it myself, but lack the knowledge and the tools... Mostly the tools I could probably figure most of it out on my own... Ohh well. Post pics of your progress.

yeah that was the hard part for me to, ive used all the machines before so im pretty experienced with them but never really had access to use them, but just this semester at college i diecied it would fun to take a metal shop class to take some easy credits, and with the class i get about 3 to 6 hours of open lab time outside of the regular class time that i can use the shop. I talked to the professor and he gave me the ok to work on it. I'm getting the extrusion, that already has the 2 tubes in it, in about a week so from there ill keep you guys posted on how it goes.

I hope you mean 3-6 hours a week for the semester. And if you want to do anything fact that cnc machine has to at least be a 4 axis. The problem with taking dimensions straight from the body is that you do not know the original tolerances so you have no idea how wrong or right those numbers truly are, just keep that in mind if you run into other parts not fitting perfectly to your scratch made body. Also be aware that you are going to need some non standard taps to make the barrel and feednechk threads, and probably access to a lathe to cut them. http://www.airsoldier.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AOS&Product_Code=TAP-COCKERBARRELIMPORT&Category_Code=AIRSMITHING there is the barrel tap you need not sure where to look for the feedneck one as I do not know the threading of it. Oh and should I mention that you better be damn good at whatever CAD and CAM packages you are using, unless you want one dull looking straight lined timmy.

yeah i can get 3 to 6 hours a week, and yeah i also looked into getting the thread taps from airsoldier already but i figure i should buy those until i actually get the rest of it done in case i really mess up with it. I have also been working with CAD for probably about 6 years now at the least, I actually had to teach my high school drafting teacher how to use CAD. I figured the tolerances would be pretty tight so i was figuring on trying to get everything within .001 of an inch, that's the main reason i was asking if anyone had the dimensions already. And yeah I never once thought it wouldn't be difficult but i have all the machines and tools available for the first time figure id give it a shot. If it doesn't work im only out the cost of the material so no biggy

Timmy tolerances are actually quite loose which can throw off your reproduction. I would suggest calling BLAST and asking if they can send some dimensions your way.

i just got off the phone with blasts engineer and he is in the same boat I am, he said that he doesn't have any of the blue prints for the older markers, he wasnt there when they made those. So now i guess im not going to find anything online so Ill have to resort to getting all the mesurements myself, O well

call up the company that does the machining/design for the bodies (name escapes me atm....)
