View Full Version : Poppit question

I was discussing with someone the fact that there are 3 poppits for intimidators: the original 2k2 poppit with cup seal, the empire delerin poppit that fits 2k2 ram sleeves, and then the 2k5 alias delerin poppit.

Im pretty sure I was correct in the above, but the field owner I told this too said he'd never heard of the empire poppit ( which came in the empire 1 i thought). Said he ordered parts from blast and there is only 2k2 and alias.

So.. im hoping I was right, but now im not sure.

Anyone care to comment?

Here's what a little google searching came up with. Hope it clears things up for you.

Empire's balanced valve assembly.

2k2-2k4 Delrin poppit.

2k5 Alias Delrin poppit.

Throw into the mix the Delrin, and later brass poppit for the Gen4 Empire II and Infamous timmy's design of poppit. But I don't think you're after that info.

Someone may be able to clarrify if there are other variations of poppits out there.

The 2k2-2k4 delrin poppet KeenDean listed above is Also Known As the Empire poppet (which yes, did come in Empire 1s - and Empire 1s only).

So yes, you are absolutely correct - there are three types of poppets for Initmidators that BLAST developed. Empire (the company - as shown above) and Lucky Paintball released aftermarket replacments.

Empire's is also known as the Empire Pressure Balanced Ram sleeve (EPBRS)

Lucky's is known as the Air Assist Valve (AAV)

Features:

Adjustable Ram Cap
Smaller Volume AL Ram
2 Cup Seals
Valve Locating Screw

But since Lucky moved to the UK and is no longer selling in the US market this is probably a moot point.

The shop owner may have been correct in his own right - perhaps BLAST is only selling 2k2 and Alias style poppets now.

Yeah PBK is decent for hard-to-find items.. but their shipping is kind of high. Call them to order and see what kind of options you have.

These aren't the Empire poppets. This is the Empire Balanced Ram which IMHO is the biggest waste of money on the planet. It leaks like a sieve and it garbage. You're better off with an Eigenram.

2k2-2k4 Delrin poppit.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n13/KeenDean_2006/2k2EmpireCupSeal.jpg

This is what's traditionally referred to as the Empire poppet. It was the first integrated cupseal/poppet for older Intimidators. BLAST still sells them.

2k5 Alias Delrin poppit.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n13/KeenDean_2006/2k5Aliaspoppit.jpg

This poppet system is better designed for lighter rams. The "head" of the poppet (delrin piece) has less surface area and opens easier (a problem with the Empire poppet) when struck with the lighter rams. It only works in Alias sleeves.

Throw into the mix the Delrin, and later brass poppit for the Gen4 Empire II and Infamous timmy's design of poppit.

Correct, these are for Gen4's only and at this point you really only want the Brass one in conjunction with the reinforced Rocket Cap.

While Lucky made some nice things, this wasn't one of them. You were "Lucky" if it worked. It was a flawed and poorly executed design like the EPBRS. I'm glad that these aren't commercially available, as it saves us from answering major technical questions about why they're not working.

The shop owner may have been correct in his own right - perhaps BLAST is only selling 2k2 and Alias style poppets now.

As of last month, BLAST had all four poppet styles (the classic with separate cupseal, the Empire, Alias and the 4th Gen brass poppets) for sale, as well as the older cup seals (though I wish you could still get black magic cupseals...those things were awesome.)

Too bad they're not manufacturing/selling Empire front blocks anymore - or are they?

 x 1000 on the black magic cupseals. I was lucky to get my hands on an Alias style one - I used to have one in my 2k2 as well they were great.
