i feel like a noob i should know this but dont actually play much just tinker.
a) if the first shot doesnt even come out of barrel, but every shot after is fine unless it sits, what do i need to adjust?
b) my lpr today seemed to be the only thing adjusting my velocity, the hpr didnt seem to be doing much, is it supposed to be like that?

it could be your dwell, i dont know much but everything that has to do with velocity seems to be the dwell.

Could be you're suffering from FSDO, First Shot Drop Off. I think it's a phenominon where if the marker is left idle for a long period, the mechanics, such as ram, bolt, etc become stiff. If you are using an aftermarket board, such as Tadao, there is a setting where the first shot is at a higher dwell to "free" any stiff mechanics.
After this first shot, the dwell returns to the pre-set users requirement. However FSDO modes on a board can lead to high chrono readings.

FSDO can be from a few things (apparently).
1) HPR sticking. If your ram moves fine and fast on the first trigger pull, but you have FSDO, it may be your HPR sticking at first and not picking up the pressure drop fast enough. Should be a simple maintenance problem.
2) solenoid stick. If your ram doesn't move normally, or at all, on the first trigger pull, the solenoid is not moving easily. You can increase the dwell setting, which will keep the 'open' signal on the solenoid longer to give it a better chance making the full move. Or you can increase the LPR pressure a little if it is low, giving the pilot part of the solenoid more pressure to work with. You really just want the solenoid to work the same all the time though.
Assuming everything works well:
The LPR setting determines how hard the ram hits the poppet and how wide the poppet will stay open.
The dwell setting determines how long the ram will hold the poppet open.
The HPR setting determines how much air will pass through the poppet while it is open.
You try to keep these three within their normal adjustment ranges so that you can make most velocity changes with the HPR adjustment. You normally keep the LPR at about 100 psi or less (75 psi) because the solenoid doesn't like higher pressure, and you are less likely to pop a hose off of a barb.
I have the second problem, the solenoid. The dwell helped, but I haven't been able to really try it out yet.

I have seen this FSDO several times on the local field I play at, and what most people, and even Pro's do I have seen, is a few seconds before a match starts they just pop a few rounds off at the ground and then get to there starting positions for the beginning of the game... my older 05 Alias had this problem real bad but when I changed out the O-rings, and set my reg like the post under ultimate sticky with how to set your reg, and kept constant pressure on my gun, the problem seemed to disappear. Mabey that would help......

i have heard that bob designed the gun in a way that its better for it to have constant pressure in it all day. i think i might have read that on nation. thats what i always do and i never have a problem.
