decided not to ano my ram sleeve, and reinstalled it today...i plumbed it all up with left over cocker hose, and now i have a small leak....$#;+!!!!!!!I think it is coming from the hose barb/hose area in the front of the ram sleeve....i dont see a tear in the hose, and the hose seems to be pushed all the way on the barb, in fact, i had a little slack in that hose so i took it off, trimmed it a bit, and reinstalled....resulting with the same small leak...i tried dry firing it 30 or 40 times....same small leak......anybody have any ideas????Help Please:(

Try dabbing a bit of soapy water on the barb to pin point leak? Maybe you nicked the o-rings on the ram sleeve when you installed it in the body?

Both excellent thoughts. Narrow down where the leak is coming from first. Make sure it's not a body puncture. If it is in fact a barb leak, remove the barb, put blue loctite on the threads and reattach with the appropriate 3/16 socket on a nut driver. The loctite will help the seal. If you put the ram sleeve on too quickly and nicked a 112 o-ring just remove, replace, relube and go SLOW when reinserting. Be sure to put the sleeve in from the front, gently twisting it as you push the sleeve into the body.

ok thanks guys......i'm out of that cocker hose so i think i will heat up the end of the hose with a blow dryer so i can slip it off of the barb, rather than cut it off.....grabbing the barb with my fingers while the marker is aired up changes the sound of the leak, so my uneducated guess is that i need to loctite the barb itself....at least i hope that is it, as that seems like the easiest fix....

Megatron- That should fix it up if it changes the amount of air getting out just by putting your finger there.

grabbing the barb with my fingers while the marker is aired up changes the sound of the leakThat could be one of many different things. The hose may have a pinhole leak in it at the barb connection, there may be a crack where the barbed threadings meet the bottom of the fitting, or the fiber washer may not be sealing.

In the first case, easiest thing to do is what you mentioned, to remove a bit of the hose and reinstall. In the second case you'll need to replace the barb, but of course you won't know if this is the case unless you uninstall it to check. Otherwise blue loctite may be the answer. Best of luck!

ok.....the soapy water revealed the leak to be where hose meets barb....so, i removed the hose, then the barb, applied blue loctite to the barb, re-installed the barb (ensuring it was tight) re-installed the hose and aired it up again......
SAME SMALL LEAK!:(!:( ok......(praying that i didnt puncture the body), i thought i should check the ram sleeve o-rings....problem found(i think)...the rear o-ring on the ram sleeve has decent size gash on it....assuming that this is the source of the leak, i changed the o-ring.......now, i am out of hose, so i have to wait until i get some more to find out if that o-ring was the source of my woes....

if the leak was where the hose meets the barb, and not from the barb base itself, that usually means a new piece of hose would fix it

Be careful with the Ram Sleeve O rings. Sharp things in the body can easily slice em. Always put it in from the front.

Megatron you get your baby fixed? or is it still leaking from the ram sleeve area?

Megatron
01-30-2008, 09:39 PM
no slim, not yet...i need more hose and i've been really busy in the "real" world lately, so i havnt had a chance to pick some up....i did do the rare earth magnet trigger mod the other day and though i havnt aired it up, there is a nice feel to the trigger pull...i really need to get some hose and fix my baby:(

ok guys, i need more help....first off, i rec'd a set of highflow barbs and hose from crankwalk today (thanks brother), installed them and voila, no more leak.....HOORAY!!!!! i kept my timmy air'd up for an hour or so, then i decided to dry fire it....turned it on and it defaulted to semi with the eyes off....fired a few shots...it felt great (love the rare earth magnet mod:tup::tup:), i went to change firing modes to ramp and i couldnt...meaning that holding the 1 & 2 buttons down yielded no response, lcd screen didnt change....so i decided that i would turn it off and try a fresh battery....holding the on/off button yielded no response, lcd screen didnt change....so i opened up the frame and changed the battery....tried to power it up and nothing happened....i took the battery out and licked the top (always loved doing that as a kid) and it shocked me so i know the battery is good....put that battery back in and the frenzy powered up this time....i tried to change the modes, but still the lcd screen didnt change...so i thought i should turn it off and check the connections and look for pinched wires...this time holding the on/off button allowed me to power the marker off...so i checked all of the connections and they all seem good, and there are no pinched wires.....could it be that my frenzy is going bad or the membrane pad needs to be replaced? any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.....

my guess is the membrane pad is starting to go..

Gee Tee

If you swap your pad for a known good one, and it cures the problem it'll pinpoint the pad is dodgy. The buttons can wear out after a lot of use & I've seen a couple go down in the UK. Otherwise the fault may lie elsewhere - possibly the board. I've had an annoying problem on my Empire that I hope to have fixed, and that seemed to have been a faulty loom (splitter) from eyes to the board. I assumed the board was the culprit on mine, but a replacement still left the eyes not detecting a ball sometimes.

Hope you get it fixed

Chances are, it's the pad, there isn't much else it could be if all your connections are good.

When the board goes, you know it, funky stuff shows up on the LCD, the noid will stay activated stuff like that.

I agree with these guys, sounds like the pad but there may be one last thing you can try before chucking it. Take a set of sharp scissors and carefully cut a bit of the end of the ribbon cable coming off the pad - maybe like 1/8 of an inch - just enough to ensure there is a new, clean connection for plugging it into the board. See if this helps. If this doesn't work drop me a PM I may be able to help you further.

the end of the ribbon on your membrane pad, the part that plugs into the board.. snip a bit off the end of that and reinstall. It won't hurt it, it just ensures a new connection is made. I am assuming this is an Alias style membrane pad and board.

Megatron
03-30-2008, 08:24 PM
alright, i pulled the tiny piece of ribbon out of the connection and i reinstalled the freshly cut ribbon cord back into the connection on the board, reinstalled the board and battery, tried to power it on and nothing....does this confirm that the membrane pad is bad or could my problems lie else ware?

As I said earlier - try to borrow a pad that's in A1 condition & swap it over.

If the problem's cured there's your answer ;)

Chip butty + ketchup = not bad

Fish finger butty + mayonaise = better

Lean bacon, grilled slightly crispy, wrapped in fresh cut white bread + a dash of HP = heaven ;)

Crank my Megatron toy has NEVER looke that smooth in either robot or gun mode. But I do still have ALL the extra pieces to make the shoulder stock, extended barrel and scope, which turns into the most awesome mounted gun in robot mode :D
