So this may seem like an obvious fix to everyone but it was killing me yesterday while I was playing.

I was chopping 2 or 3 out of every 5 that I was shooting with my protege. I assumed it was the eyes so I spent a few minutes and cleaned the eyes. After cleaning the eyes I chopped 4 out of every 5!

I started to get angry because even when I did get a shot off it was so far off mark that I wouldn't even hit a bunker (REALLY REALLY BAD PAINT)! I bought Premium but I guess it was pretty old, dents and nicks all over the paint and a TON of oil.

So I talked with one of my "buddies" who was a "tech" for this local shop. He assumed that it was the pressure being too high (I agreed with him because I wasn't actually chopping balls I realized, I was just killing them with the bolt).

I let him get his Allen wrenches and turn it down and...

POP!!! HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I guess that the reg on the Protege is reverse from the old torpedo regs where down is closed (or something like that).

He blew out an o ring. I took the gun back from him, told him he was worthless (although since I couldn't figure out the problem I guess I'm just as worthless) and tore my gun apart.

The O-ring that blew was a #22 (big one) that is actually stretched into an oval. Actually, once I figured out what the problem was it was an easy fix.

ANYWAY

Moral of the story,

This gun is great and is very easy to fix (once you know what you're doing) but it NEEDS a manual with maintenance and troubleshooting instructions.

Just thought that I'd vent about my gun and the awful weekend at the paintball field.

Atleast I got to use my friends PM8 (pretty nice but it's no timi)

well sorry to hear that you had a bad time. read a pit more about it and maybe next time you could fix it yourself.

You're telling me, I've been trying to read more about it but there is no manual. I just found the Gen 5 maintenance post from crank an hour or 2 ago.

Wish I saw that last week!

I am sure the incubus is working on another great manual.. he's developed the last couple of manuals for Timmys.. we just have to sit tight until those are released :)

I talked to Joe with Bob Long yesterday (he is the response person for the tech emails). He said that BL is currently making a full operations, maintenance and troubleshooting manual for the protege which will include board operations (although you can get a manual for that from him already).

He said that it should be done in the next couple of weeks and to email him back in 2 or 3 weeks to check on it's status. As soon as I get a copy of it I will post it for everyone to use.
