Who uses a drop forward on their timmy?

Almost every picture I see of a timmy has direct/rail mount ASA. I have a CP micro razor drop that I haven't gotten used to yet. I thought the micro drop would help me adapt. It's just 'in between'. I've always ran short bottles, remotes, or big drop forwards to keep my marker facing forward and up tight. Shooting across my chest with a 68ci bottle on my arm all the time feels funny (ha).

Or is a rail just the way to do it?

I think you'll find that it seems to be a "fasion" trend.

I remember when it was all the rage to have a drop forward, so the weight of a heavy cylinder/tank was more centralised to the grip. Problem was that it meant that with a 45 grip, the curvature of the tank rubbed against your wrist and threw the wrist outwards at an angle. Over a long game this lead to aches, and strains. Plus it compressed and raised the profile of the marker.

Players eventually discarded the drops and just mounted direct to rails. It threw the weight to the rear more, but if you have the tank braced into your shoulder whilest aiming, then this wasn't an isssue. It led to a longer and lower profile.

At the end of the day it's down to personal preferences. I used to use drops, but would never fit one now. I like the longer/lower profile, and I like the absence of the tank rubbing against my wrists. Go with what ever suits your game style.

It's all a matter of personal preference. With tank sizes going more towards the smaller side as a standard, there's no need to use a drop. If you're a smaller player you still may need that drop, but generally, I recommend a rail/asa combo.

qft. as i have grown i have moved more to the rail asa combo that lopez has said. but many people have also siad that your not "cool" if you use a drop forward. -jr

I like having the gun a good distance away from me...I dont like drop forwards, they make the gun taller...but it all comes down to personnal preference

I think the wrist position may decide it for me. Having the bottle on the marker is going to be uncomfortable for a while anyway. I am used to handling my marker as a pistol on a remote. It lets me swing one-handed to the right when making run throughs or running left across open areas. Having the bottle balanced and out of the way for that seemed like a good idea. Maybe I can balance the bottle on my forearm. Or learn to switch sides. I've found that my right hand can shoot pretty accurately without a lot of help from the rest of my body and I'm just resisting the change.

And because I have been running a remote, "cool" hasn't been a factor. :) I mainly play scenarios, but I don't go mil-sim. I just want balls on target.

I have nice color matched CP rail on order. I will give it a try.

Honestly, after owning a few drops and such it hinders me in playing b/c of the awkwardness of trying to get the gun in the right position. And it takes my mind out of the game til I get the gun right(I switch alot).

It's al preference. I currently have one of our Direct Mount Gear Drive On/Off's on my Storm and it feels nice enough on there but, for me, this partiular Marker is PERFECT with my CP Micro Drop and it's going back on. Just feels natural.

The Direct mount will now go onto Bradshaw where it doesn't bother me at all.
