Hi again guys , Ok I want to upgrade my brothers GZ but my 1st problem is the grip or frame, I will probably never match the anno of Black to grey fade.
So I am faced with 2 options, one just 2k5 it and have the whole gun annoed later,
or try to see if there is any way to fit another set of guts( board and electronics )that will fit in this grip frame.
I would like to go with the second option, because it's probably cheaper. But the good news is the frame is not that gross looking 45 frame so I think we might have something to work with, here is a pic of it popped open It has a WAS board in it....

And also a Tecna Katana But I can tell I am just missing out on this bad boys potential.....
I know several of you have done 2k5 conversions but I do not know my options with this grip. Can I fit a virtue in there? or another board ? I do not need 30 different modes but I want to have PsP, and mabey auto fire for testing out RoF,ect.....do i need to just mill things? I am willing to take any suggestions. here is another pic ..

I see the trigger switch has its own mounting bracket so mabey I just need to go to radio Shack and sotter in a 20 gram switch instead of an 80 gram on it I believe it has. what do you guys think? Please impart any Jewels of knowledge, thanks in advance -R-

i put an alias frame on my gz and i am so pleased with it! i had the clammy too and i love the alias frame.
if you're not up for doing the mods to fit a new frame on it, look into the frenzy boards that came with the 2k5 timmies (2k5 board and internals in a 2k2 platform). I'm not sure which version it is but I can find out if nobody else knows it off the top of their head.
i also believe virtue makes a board to fit those frames, but it only has like 60% ramp mode and semi. here is a video of it, but I'm not sure if they still sell it anywhere or not. i know its different than that 2k4 ramper, which does have all 7 firing modes.

hope this helps. pm me if you have any questions and i'll try to answer them.

I have an extra 2k5 frenzy board with membrane and all parts. But I would need to custom mill this frame, and I do not think it would fit the stock 2k2 platform especially with the trigger toggle switch screwed down to the right side of the grip or body housing. refer to the picture directly above this post. I just have not attempted this before and dont want to buy another grip or frame for an easy correctable milling mistake. I bet Crankwalk has seen something frankensteined I'll ask him :D

I bet Crankwalk has seen something frankensteined I'll ask him :DI have. Someone put Alias internals in a 2k2 frame.. but for the life of me I cant find the information.. I'll keep looking. Maybe Lopez remembers what I'm talking about...

Sweet, If it can be done I am willing to attempt it, I would just like a good template to go off of.
If not, what upgraded board would you recommend and what would fit? I tried to look at that link slash posted but i need some sort of plug in.
I am extremely happy with the virtue in my 05 Alias but then again I have not tried any other board except the stock frenzy, which I was pretty impressed with for a stock board.
I do not really care about 700 different breakout modes and such and I am pleased as punch to be able to walk 15 BPS on semi ( right handed, my left is getting there :P ) and thanks again for looking things up for me Crankwalk.....

Slash's link is a great DIY board, but for your purposes there are 3 boards that come to mind
2k2 style Frenzy 127.4 will have the options, and a couple modes (ramping, auto, etc) and will allow your bro to keep his LCD board and program via the buttons on either side of the LCD
then there is the WAS 2.9 board, and the 2k2 style Tadao M3 board. Both are LED based boards, programming will be done via the trigger only. They both have multiple modes as well. I see you already have a WAS board so Lopez can upgrade it to 2.9 code for free so you get the ramping and such, but you will lose LCD functionality.
I hope I can find that article, it was interesting the way the guy put the Alias parts in the 2k2 frame :)

Any luck on finding that article?
and will a virtue just fit in it? I see those for sale that say they will fit for example will a 2K4-6 Alias board fit in there? I know the membrane pad would have to be magic'ed in there some where and probably milling to have the trigger switch to fit in properly. I was Just wondering what my options were or IF the Was board flashed was the best bet and just resolder a new lighter say 20 gram switch, rather then an 80 gram one I believe the Stock was boards came with.... or am I on glue? heehheh
.... suggestions are all welcome. I just know I love the way my Alias rips and I want the same performance with the Tecna katana on both guns( both are lucky enough to have those wonderful triggers).

Never found the original article I was thinking about but there used to be a version of it in our voided warranty section here

I don't think the video link works anymore so you might have to PM "outrageous" and see if he can fix the link in his thread
