well, i just traded for my alias and the front frame screw hole is toast  it has already been fixed w/ jb weld for a puncture to the body but the threads wont hold a screw anymore. i have access to a heli-coil kit, i just need to know the best way to go about this.

since i have to drill the hole a size larger, its going to be hard not to drill straight into the air chamber as the drill bit has a pointed tip, and im not going very far into the body. would it be ok for me to just drill straight through, tap and helicoil, then fill the one side of the helicoil w/ jb weld to plug up the chamber? i dont want a paperweight on my hands, so i would like to know if the jb weld will hold up over a relatively large surface area. also, will it be a PITA to plug a hole that large w/ jb weld from the inside of the body? how have others gone about doing this?

i dont want to send it into blast as im completely broke and have the resources right at home. THANKS!

If your not really sure on what to do, or if this is your first attempt and your ONLY gat, I know you don't want to send it to BLAST but that is your best bet for sure.

I think blast chages like $40 or something to do it, and they done it 1000 times and are well equiped to do it, I would do that

if you really want to try it yourself I stuck a old ramsleeve in there for the jb weld to sit on, I lubed the side of the sleeve so the jb weld wouldn't stick, put the jb weld in through the grip screw hole, I let it dry for 3 days, stuck it in the freezer for a few hours just to make sure the sleeve would come out, I then used a dremel and very carefully cleaned up the excess jb that slid around in the ramsleeve area, it was a pita but it worked

Drill to size, apply helicoil, red loctite or JB Weld a tiny 10-32 set screw into the bottom of the helicoil insert to plug the hole.

I will definitely do that. Anyone know the thread pitch off hand?

Should be 10-32 threaded a pretty common size.
