I read this article in Facefull (the best paintball magazine in the world btw) anyways, this article was about how Arena Football started at the same time as paintball...Look at Arena football now...Its huge! Paintball may be one of the fastest growing sports, but the sport is never going to get as popular as arena football if the NPPL and PSP stay seperated...They need to put their differences aside, man up and work together to help the sport grow. If you look at the paintballing community everyone is in it for themselves...You have companies suing each other over everything Smartparts "cough"...Look at poor AKA! they cant make anything! Instead of suing and hating each other why not be more focused on helping paintball grow and forget about whats in it for you!
On to the big question...If the PSP and NPPL ever put aside their differences, which version would you want to stay? PSP or NPPL??? I prefer PSP, its fun to watch because its fast paced and theres penalties, a scoreboard, ramping, all that good stuff. It seems like PSP would be be more TV friendly than the NPPL.
But thats just my opinion...Whats your opinion? Any ideas out there to help the sport of paintball grow???
And for all you players out there who are in it for the love of the game CHEERS!

I thought I'd throw my 2 peneth (sorry 2 cents) worth into this topic of conversation. From what I have seen on TV, and by that I mean DVD's, PSP format is by far more enthralling and exciting to watch. I think it adapts well to TV viewing, which is important for the sport to progress.
What kind of following would arena football have without TV coverage?
For years, paintball has tried to envelope media coverage. It's no coincidence that pantball moved out of the woods into arenas and flat sports fields. Who the hell would want to drag a film crew through the boonies?
But I agree, there is too much litigation and lawsuits being thrown around between paintball companies that will, and already has, had an effect on teams and the sport. look at the situation Bob Long is in with Archoron.
By the way, the cartoons are awesome, thats for the link.:D

You mean the situation Bob's in with NPS/Kee? Archon is Bob's distributor, unless I'm way out of the loop?

More from what I understand...and that's the tip of the iceberg. My understanding is that if NPS didn't merge when they did they were filing for bankruptcy within the next few weeks. Gino is pretty slimy from everything I heard.

There are sooo many scum bags in the world of paintball...My good friend Carlos ( works at Paintball Wizard in Hooksett NH) Plays for a 7-man team called Poops Mcgee (yes I know very weird name) in the NEPL, when Alien was fairly new Poops had a full sponsor from them because Carlos knew the owner "james" <<< I think thats the owners name... Anyways the stock bolts for the older aliens sucked...So Carlos designed a new bolt for Alien (which helped performance greatly Shortly after Carlos finished the bolt Alien dropped the sponsor between poops and them, Alien took the rights to the bolt and gave Carlos no credit for his hard work...Its a cruel world

According to an article in this months Paintball Games International (not that bad a rag, but's it's the only one thats readily available at local newsagents) Bob Long has had to pull Legacy from the NXL due to the fact that the team has run out of funds.
Basically when NPS shafted BL, he had attorneys draw up a contract between himself and Archon. Archon/Zap agreed to supply paint for Legacy and Blast for the the NXL and NPPL, as well as sell BL merchandise. But it turns out that Archon have ordered Bob Long merchandise, then sold it, but never payed BL what he was owed.
This has left BL with a shortfall, that has meant that he had to cut costs. He was already short due to the split from NPS, but now there is possible expensive litigation between him and Archon. That is why he has cut Legacy from the NXL. He is still putting Blast through the NPPL, but even thats out of his own pocket (besides committed sponsers such as JT, etc).
There's a more in depth article in PGI, if anyone wants to read it.
It's just anouther shinning example of how the paintball business has evolved into company's watching profit margins, and doing less for the players.
