Hey guys, I've got an air leak in my Dark that I'm having trouble fixing. It sounds like it's coming out the barrel & up the feed neck. I stripped it down and replaced every o-ring in it and it's still there. Any idea where to look next :confused:

Do you have a different poppet you can swap in? Maybe the poppet head seal is the issue?

Poppet face seal (cup seal) may have some grooves in it. I have one like that.

No I don't have one, guess that's the only thing left. I changed the small o-ring thinking that might it but no go. Any body have one?? I'll buy it from you.

the other thing might be a sliced ram sleeve o-ring but the easier thing would be to try a different poppet. usually those types of leaks are either the poppet o-ring or ram rings that's the most common..

I have another one for you. Poppet could be cracked on the spring side of the base, if it is a one piece cup seal.

I got my leaky poppet out. It had three noticeable grooves, two were deep and eccentric from the shaft. It is an empire type with the one piece white cup seal.

Out of curiosity, I ran the face of the cup seal over a hot iron, but it wasn't hot enough to relieve the grooves.

So I wet sanded the face of the poppet down with 220, 320, and 400 grit paper and got it smooth and flat. As I screwed the shaft in, my son noticed it wasn't straight. Of course it was straight, but the back of the poppet was cracked and the shaft was pushing the one side up.

The leak had been from air leaking through the crack and down the threads. :mad:

I have a new poppet ordered. That seems to be the only thing left that can be wrong with it. Thanks for all the input and I'll let you know if this fixes it.
