I was recently able to get my hands on a direct from factory gen4 (infamous milled) for cheap. However since Bob Long was clearing these out for dirt cheap and whatever was around I was unfortunate enough to get the led frenzy board (the ones that shipped in the defiant 2's origionally).

I am less than satisfied with that board because I have to open the grips to do...well almost anything. In my opinion a "high end" gun should be able to modify most if not all settings without opening the grip. I'm not angry with bob long direct (BLAST) or any of their staff because I know I bought a closeout product through a Bob Long dealer and these things happen. (I did find it funny that all that came in the box aside from the gun and barrel was a photocoppied set of instructions for the LCD board...which I did not have...and no basic intimidator manual...but I got those e-mailed to me from the blast techs, nice people).

Long story short I am in the market for a new board for this beast and I wanted opinions on the gen4 boards that are avilable.

what I was considering:
Tadao infamous (newest gen, probably wait until the yakuza's hit so the price drops)
Tadao yakuza (looks impressive, like the removal of the membrane and love the OLED with battery readout)
killa vibe (cheap, haven't heard anything bad)
virtue (not all that intrested in virtue to be honest..not sure why I just don't really like them as a company, personal opinion)
frenzy LCD (can be found cheap on e-bay...but it's e-bay quality is questionable and with the new rules for PSP not sure if it'll be compatable if I end up at an event using PSP rules)

Any help would be appreciated, and BTW I love my new intimidator. The feel, the efficency, the look, the sound signitaure is nice, and the speed...more than I need.

I got to borrow an etek once and it kicked so much worse than and was a lot louder then my gen4, I don't know if the etek owner was at fault (settings) or if that's just how those are.

Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forum!

Yes definitely that's an anomaly, not the norm. Gen 4s should have come with the Empire or Infamous 1.5 board - basically its a Frenzy LCD board like from Gen 3s with a little different code on it.

Basically any aftermarket board you get is going to do you right. I personally like the Tadao Infamous boards, and the Kila Vibe (LCD screen is easy to program the marker with, free lifetime software updates) but basically you can't go wrong with any of them. All of them have the standard modes, some have a little different options. Really depends on your price range and whether or not you would mind programming the board with trigger pulls and counting colored LED blinks, or want an LCD screen to see everything.

And yes, all Egos are much louder than Timmys ;)

I knew it was an anomoly, but one out of nessisity of the availibility of parts and for the price I paid I'm not worried about it. It is a fine board, just not as adjustable and the only things the membrane pad can do is turn off the eyes and set a 1sec trigger delay (so it can behave like a pump I guess...I donno when that would be useful).

I really like the LCD options, I might just go with the Killa with the package so I can get the detents (I never really trusted rubber nubbins), I'm not sure the 4c for the gen4 is going to help all that much, but the package makes it affordable to test, and I can always go back to the stock eyes.

The Yakuza looks really sweet...but I think it's overkill...and I am slightly worried that the oled might eat the battery faster with a display that bright. I'm probably wrong on that one though. And the price is going to be quite high, compared on what I paid for the gun...that's going to be a large precentage of the gun cost...at least with the vibe package I get other things that I wanted.

I'm leaning towards the yakuza once it finally comes out. I've got the 1.5 Empire board right now and it's alright but I don't like that I have to put the board in competion mode to get true unlimited bps, guess I got spoiled w/the oled and programming options available on my A1 and prefer to have the flexibility now. And as for battery consumption you wouldn't notice a difference the OLED vs. an LCD screen.
I think it was Virtue that was showing off their soon to be released OLED equipped board that you could customize (via usb mini interface to your computer) the display, so that might be worth taking a look at real soon as well.
