Hi guys, I just bought an AIM/ASP style3 body and just wanna know if i can use 2k2 eye covers or if i need the special aim ones.
also, do i need a special grub screw for the ram sleeve? or does the standard one work? if i need a special one, what are the threads/size?
thanks guys

I have an AIM body sitting around here so I just tried a 2k2 ram sleeve set screw and it doesn't appear to work. It screwed in maybe a turn and a half and then stopped (tried this with two different 2k2 ram sleeve set screws). I don't want to force it and it doesn't look like there's any loctite in the hole.

Well after some trial and error on my AIM body I'm happy to announce that I've discovered that a stock 2k2 clamshell screw is a direct replacement for the AIM eye cover screw. So in that case I do have part of what you need :D

As for the covers, you can use any 2k2 eye cover you'll just have to drill out the eye cover's screw holes a bit larger.

Are all the screws on the 2k2's the same? My GZ had real tiny screws and I was thinking I had to order special screws for the gz. What do you think crankwalk?

which ones were tiny? if the clamshell screws looked shorter than normal 2k2 screws then they probably had alias screws in them which should still work but are much shorter

And to answer your question, there aren't any GZ specific screws as far as I know.

now, how much larger do I need to drill them?
and does a 10/32 screw sound right for the ram sleeve grub?

I don't have a drill bit size, I'll try to check later I'm not at home right now - but I would guess its the next step up after the stock size. If you have a drill bit kit, find which bit snugly fits in the existing hole of the 2k2 eye cover you want to modify and then use the next larger size up. But if you give me a few hours I'll check when I get home and give you a definite answer.

And no, 10/32 is too small for the ram sleeve grub screw. For this, your best bet will be to take the body to your local hardware store and see if they can help you match it up.

any luck finding out what size screws go in the eye covers on the AIM body?

the ones in the frame were smaller than a normal 2k2. (I think) I thought when I ordered screws one time they had to make sure which model I had, but I'm getting older and my memory is going along with my hair.

Alright sorry i didn't get back to you guys on this but you have to drill the 2k2 eye covers out using a 1/8" bit

And 211, see below

That is, the screw that holds the clamshell halves together... and the screw you use to hold in the trigger guard..

I got a grub screw for the ram sleeve...i was in a rush so i didn't really pay much attention to the size...oops :(
for those who need the screws, just go to your hardware store with the body and get one.
i wanna say it was like 16 something? don't trust me on that though
