I'm just thinking aloud on this one, and with the logistics involved I don't think it would ever be feasable to attempt.
The team I used to play for (10 years in total) used to run a one-on-one tournament. Every year it was the teams highlight to take part in this mini event to see just who was the best within our team. We had a trophy/shield made, where the winner had their name and the year they won engraved on it. It was great fun, even at the draw stage when you would see who would be matched up against who. It was basically a knockout, until there was a winner. To make it interesting for us spray-n-pray back guys, you were only allowed a hopper full of paint, and games were for 3minutes only.
Now how cool would it be to hold a one-on-one tournament for IOG members, to see who would be the best. Now, don't get me wrong it is a long way to travel just to play a 3minute game, even for you lucky guy's who only have to travel a couple of states. Yes I know a couple of states still means travelling by air. I have been to the US 3 years in a row camping and hiking so I know the geography of your country. But you could also arrange for tournaments to be played, i.e. arrange 5-man teams and play NXL format etc...
Alternatively, you could hold the IOG tournament at a venue near to, and the day before a major NPPL or NXL event. Once the IOG event is finished, you could just rollover to the bigger/main event and abuse the trade stands or watch some pro's slug it out.
It may also be a great oportunity for us international members to take a "business" trip state side, and meet up with fellow IOG members. I personally would try and arrange the visit to coincide with a family vacation, where out of a two week vacation I break off from all the sight seeing and make a play to take a trophy back across the pond. It would be a great oportunity for all members to actually put a face to a username.
I know that this suggestion seems like a pipe dream, that has about as much chance of coming real, as Oakland winning this years superbowl (sorry, I'm a Raiders fan), but where's the harm in voicing ones ideas...
