The thing i love about IOG way better than PBnation is the people here are so more laid back. I have browsed through a lot of threads and not once i have seen someone flame someone else. Another thing i like is I'd feel a lot safer buying stuff here than from on nation. I put up a WTB thread a lil while ago asking for timmy parts on nation. a little later a dude sent me a pm saying he had a WAS board 2.9 for $60 and i was like "nah dude, i only want to spend like $20" so he was like "ok, i got a 2.3 i'll sell u for that much." So i was like, oh ok cool. and i looked at when he joined and it had been like 3 days ago and he had no feedback so i told him i didnt want to ship first but he was like "no" so i was like "alright w/e" cuz i tend to be a laid back person and dont care about much. so i sent him the money and he never sent the board. and then yesterday, a kid pm'd me on nation saying he had all this stuff i needed and he had joined the day before, and i was like "i'll take it, but theres no way im shipping first" and he was like "well that sounds sketchy, why" and we had a convo about why but i ended up not taking his offer. So i guess im kinda venting on being annoyed that people try to scam other people on nation so much. Has anyone else experienced/thought this too?

I'll say PBNation tends to attract a lot of characters and leave it at that.

Sorry to here that you were scammed, but at least you have learnt a valuable lesson.

I am honoured to be a moderator on this forum, and to be honest, this is the best forum I subscribe to and use. We take pride in the fact that we are a close knit family of ballers who share one common love, which is the intimidator. there are guys on here who personally know each other and meet up at paintball events.

I know what you mean regarding constant flaming and derogatory remarks posted to users/members on other forums. I have some times read a thread where for 20 or so posts it was constant insults back and forth between users.

I personally won't stand for it on this forum and wouldn't think twice over banning someone. But as yet, in last year that I have been a moderator, I have only had to "moderate" two threads posted, and they were for nothing serious.

I am glad you feel at ease on this forum, and we’re glad to have you on board. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

pbfrenzy44- Sorry to hear that you have been scammed as well. I was scammed on pbnation multiple times now, one guy told me he had a Flex 7 mask that he only wore once and gave me pictures that looked to show that. I sent money and it took a month of me getting a hold of people that live near him (He lives in California and I live in Pennsylvania so I couldn't do it myself) and posting on his myspace to get his to finally send the mask. Well that would be OK I guess, but the foam in the mask just falls off in chunks when you touch it, the bottoms were all cut up, lens had HK (paintball team) painted on both sides of the lens. Never the less I ended up keeping the mask since I was tired of waiting for this guy and the police wouldn't do anything over something I paid $30 for. I have also been ripped off on many Timmy parts like that when people go oh its in perfect condition and then I get the part and end up having to fix it myself. Be very careful on pbnation, but on here it is mainly a bunch of people that all know who is who that wouldn't rip each other off.

I don't even have a PBN account. EVERY time I go over there I only get 3 or 4 posts into a thread before someone says something to offend me. I won't even click on a link to a PBN tread not only becase of the idiots posting but becase their sponsors pay by number of hits and if they don't care to clean up the site I don't want to give them an extra penny becasue I clicked on a thread.

As i'm in the Uk i normally only go on PBNation if i want to laugh at teenagers with too much testosterone venting at each other and telling Mom/Mum jokes:D

One thing it is useful for apart from that is when it comes to getting parts. For example, you can't get hold of a Brass Eagle Razorback Threaded barrel in the UK for any price but i've got one via the Nation (from a different forum). The barrels fit the old Sterling Pump guns with a bit of milling and i'm in the process of doing one up.

I've only been spammed on a paintball site once and that was by a guy from Baruch College Paintball Club in the US. I think it's a college or university team. However, this guy scammed about 20 people in one go and, when it was about to get resolved (we got the University/College involved) he then claimed that due to racial abuse and threats of physical violence from a couple of the people he had scammed, he was perfectly within his rights to keep everyones money and not send anyone their stuff. The guy's name was Ken Thom and he's not very popular in the UK.

Link to one of the threads about it:http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=40978&highlight=baruch $999 stolen from 5 people and a load more never bothered posting up.

I am always sorry to hear when another 'baller gets scammed. I got scammed on eBay of all places  a very long time ago but this was for something unrelated to paintball. Just goes to show everyone should be very careful dealing online. The rule for posting BST items here on IOG is pictures and a paintball forum related feedback thread. Feedback is a good start but 3rd party trades with a trusted middleman are probably best for high-value transactions. I wish everyone nothing but the best of luck in all dealings with anyone here or on any other forum.

Good Evening To All. Bad day today. I have to vent also. Last night my sons Shocker is leaking. I have a o-ring set ordered from Ebay, but I need one tonight. When to Action Village.com in Chicago. Scarry to think they sell parts. No help at all, just a skate board person behind the counter. Asked a few questions that went nowhere, so I strolled over to their computor and ordered will call. Anyway i got the o-ring kit and came home and fixed his Shocker while staring at my Intimidator. He is going tomorrow so I had to rebuilt the marker tonight. I felt scammed at Action Village. A beautiful building and then nothing.
I sold my sons ION XE last week to a guy in NJ. Has the marker 4 days and e-mails me and states that he wants his money back. He states that the threads in the barrel and regulator area are heavly scratched. I am at a total loss and stupiflied. He has stopped payment with paypal and still has the marker. Thanks for listing, I feel better. Lenny

yeah, luckily i haven't been scammed too bad, i've gotten stuff in shady condition, but that's about it. i guess i've just gotten lucky with the people i deal with, i also tend to make sure that i throughly talk the terms before anyone ships. i guess i did get scammed once, but the guy ended up making it not so bad in the end. *shrug*

Wow ALENONE that sucks - all I can suggest is keep talking to the guy, get paypal involved and/or just have him send you back the marker so at least you don't lose it.

And I would have thought ActionVillage was a "gloriously filled to the rafters with paintball equipment" store. Maybe they hide the PB stuff in their warehouse? :D

If I deal with anyone on PBN through Paypal, I always ship with delivery confirmation. They can file a dispute with paypal but with pictures and delivery confirmation it's usually hard for them to get their $$ back when they change their mind.

That being said, I've been relatively lucky in the 15 years or so that I've been buying/selling/trading online. I was scammed once in 2000 for a $4 patch that I bought on eBay. I paid via check and the guy never sent it. No real loss there, more of a situation where an idiot kid sold something, got the check and didn't send the item out before he left for summer camp for 2 months.

Last year I had a guy that was horribly slow about sending out a Ripper that I bought. He had decent feedback and I even paid his fees and volunteered to pay his shipping to get me the marker faster. It took him more than 3 weeks to send the marker. When I filed a dispute with Paypal it froze his account and he got BITTER with me. To the point that he started making threats that he was going to come down to VA and kick my *** and that I better not be scamming him (etc.). I had to chuckle because I paid him $700 and waited two weeks and didn't have anything but I was scamming him. It served to illustrate the idiocy of the members there, because this guy clearly hadn't done his homework. He had no idea what I did for a living, no idea that in addition to paintball markers I keep loaded firearms around the house for my protection (as a result of an unstable former colleague who made a credible threat to kill me a few years ago, but that's another story) and that I had connections through work with two of the agencies he was applying with for a job (I was happy to pass his name along to them as someone they didn't want to hire and then linked them to some of his comments on PBN). I eventually had to cut a business trip short to get back home to get the marker when it did arrive (about a month after buying it). I did find it amusing that he left me negative feedback for being "impatient". I don't know what's impatient about expecting timely shipping of a marker where I paid the shipping costs. It worked out though.

It's always a good idea to be diligent up front about getting a valid address, name, working landline etc. from people, especially kids.

i was ripped off a dye reflex cocker body by blackbean.

most of all i sent a kid my 360 and all my accessories. it was a heavily modded 360, custom case, custom window, custom everything and a backpack all kinds of cables two controllers... just the works
he was supposed to give me an ego but that never happened... almost a year later i got in contact with his friend and mother and then i got it back but it was beat to **** and missing everything... i wish she just sent the ego :(... haha

AV's store front is quite empty, you have to log onto their website on their in store computers and give them a picking sheet with the item numbers on it, nad they send a runner back into the attached werehouse to bring your order up front. Then you can inspect it and yadda yadda. They only have maybe 20 markers on their wall.

As far as the scamming...yeah...there's a reason I only do trading/buying/selling on here and other small websites of well regulated curtious plaintballers. That and since I don't do it often I am very honest to the seller and tell them EXCATALLY what I plan to do and how I plan to "protect them" i.e. send cashieers checks (I lack paypal) so that the checks cannot bounce.

Really sucks about the scamming...wish there was more that could be done.

Actually, I got scammed with a Cashier's check once. I sold a couch to someone on Craigslist, the person was local and called me and then came over with a cashier's check and took the couch.

I cashed the check and spent the money. About 2 weeks later I get a call from my bank saying that I cashed a FAKE cashiers check and they were going to call the cops on me.

I went to the bank and explained the situation, since I had no idea they didn't press charges but they did make me give them cash for the value of the check (since I cashed it).

I tried to call the guy again to discuss and his phone was off. The cops didn't care because it was only $200. I lost the couch and the money! Cashier's checks are dangerous!

As far as buying online Paypal is the best you can get (for now) but if they are even remotely close I always offer to drive to them with cash, if it's over 5 hours I offer to drive half way and add $ towards their gas to meet me. If it's a totally different area I see if I have anyone I know in their area. Most of the time if it is anywhere near a big city I know someone that I can trust to pick it up for me and ship it to me.

Never been scammed personally. i am pretty careful and I neer want anything so badly that i would expose myself to unnecessary risk.

I remember the chump giving Lopez bad feedback. Lopez, how dare you expect a marker sooner than 30 days after paying? That is just unreal.

Funny that we mention scamming, thus far, the only time I've encountered scammers was on eBay. About 6-7 years ago when it first started and you could sell things without being a full member, I got scammed out of a MP3 player... 128MB FTW! :P

Then just in the last couple months I encountered two. One paid up willingly, while the other I had to go through Paypal's claims service. I'm short a some paintball parts and a Vforce mask, but at least I got my money back.

I never do anything Buy/Sell/Trade related on the nation. No matter how many times you put 'NO ION'S!!!' in the thread you still get 1,000,000 offers for ION's.
Luckily I've only been scammed once. I bought an Evil bolt and frontblock from an Ebay store and never got anything. I had to open a claim with paypal to get my $$$ back. I checked his feedback a week after I hadn't gotten a response from the guy and there was like 4 people who said they never got their items either. You have to be very careful in dealing with people on line, and don't think that just because an Ebay member has 100% feedback or even if its an Ebay store(both with the guy I dealt with) that you have nothing to worry about.

I know man. I have some balls to have such unreasonable expectations.

I mean, I was cracking up for a while there because I paid for the shipping and PP fees and was travelling all over for work at the time. When he started making threats to come down and kick my *** I was still mildly amused. I mean, I don't get to draw my .45 on people often. Usually unruly door to door sales people.

If my house hadn't had some minor issues last week requiring a few hundy in repairs, I think I'd take a stab at buying your closer. That's a REAL nice looking marker.
