Everyone always says how you have to tap a 2k5 front block to work with a gen. 2. Has anyone ever tried tapping the body instead?

This has been done many times and is the most common way of installing an Alias style non-threaded block onto a 2k2 body, BLAST or a machine shop could do the work.

ok. if u have a 2k5 front block that has already been tapped for a 2k2, can u still use it on a gen. 3?

I believe the grub screw on the Gen3 body should be able to hold the block in place even if its been tapped. Although I personally have never seen an Alias block reverse-modded to be drilled and tapped for 2k2. Usually the body is what is tapped, to be used with an Alias block.
If you have such a tapped block, there's a chance you have an Empire front block on your hands. Looks just like an Alias block, but its tapped like a 2k2 block.
