There are about four of us from the Scranton, PA area going to MSG Paintball Field (http://www.msgpaintballny.com), Middletown, NY on Saturday, 6 Aug 2011 to play some speedball. I called them today and their 5 man speedball field will be open on Saturday (the only weekend day we can all get together/off work). Anyone else nearby want to go or meet us there? The address for the field is: 380 Bart Bull Road, Middletown, NY 10941 phone: 845-384-1102

It was a very good day yesterday. The weather held out for us. It started to drizzle as we were getting ready to leave and started to rain as we were driving away. We got the team practice price of $50 each (each person got entry, all day air -3k fills, and a case of paint - RPS Formula 13 Intermediate grade) and we had the 5 man supair field to ourselves. The 3 man field was fresh with brand new bunkers and all setup for a tournament so we couldn't shoot paint on it but we were allowed to walk it and practice breakouts and what not. The tournament is supposed to be today. I am the only one who doesn't have to work today. We were very tempted to enter a team, have some guys call off from work and go back. Entry is $75 per team plus paint. Payout is a percentage of the entry fee collected - 1st 60%, 2nd 25% & 3rd 15% (the field owner is only making money on paint sales & concessions). There were 10 teams already signed up. Each team gets 7 games and scoring is based on number of opponents shot out, number of team still alive at end of game and flag hangs. It was very tempting but on such short notice almost unpossible for us to pull off. So anyway, we had the 5 man field to ourselves, no refs (none needed) and the freedom to set it up however we wanted. We did a lot of 2 vs 2 and some 1 vs 1 drills (snap shooting and generally horsing around having fun). The field is a family run business and they are knowledgable and friendly with a very relaxed atmosphere and still focused on safety (masks must be approved, guns chrono'd to 280 or below, no self fills, etc.). It is a primitive setup in the sense that there is no electricity or running water. Everything is run from a gas powered compressor, gas powered backpack leaf blower, etc. There is a portapotty. The break area is nicely setup with picnic tables, tables & chairs and a gas grill. There is no proshop at the field (the shop is in town a few miles away). The fields are very nice - real grass that is nicely trimmed, minimal wear or bare spots, and no noticeable rocks or other debris. Behind the fields we were on is a hyperpipe and a couple of rec/woods ball fields. If you are closeby and comfortable with this type of field then I would recommend it for you.

I was at the MSG practice on Aug. 20th. It's a nice new air ball field for sure but that formula 13 paint is garbage....it was like wiffle balls flying out my barrel...really bad.

yeah...it was a bit crusty and starting to dimple in 2 out of the 4 cases we got when we were there. We put the worst bags into 1 case and they traded it for better condition paint.
